File Document 18 THE EASTBOURNE WATERWORKS COMPANY P. H. BLAGROVE, a.c.i.s. 28 SEASIDE ROAD EFB/JK Rate No. 11427 I am obliged by receipt of your letter enclosing £1 in payment on account of £11: 14: 2d, being the amount due by you for Water Rates on No. 83 Percival Road, Hampden Park, ending 25th December last, a receipt for which I send herewith. The sum of £10: 14: 2d. is still outstanding and due by you. I understand that you have been availing yourself of such protection as is afforded the Moratorium and I have to explain that my Company's practice has for some time, been to apply to the Court for the Judge to lift the Moratorium, which he has been doing, and orders for payment are being made. You are doubtless aware that the Moratorium comes to an end on the 31st March next. As this matter has been in abeyance now for some very considerable time, I must ask you to please let me hear from you by or before 12 o'clock noon on Friday next, the 21st instant, regarding some satisfactory arrangement as to payment of these outstanding Rates, failing which I have no alternative but to hand the collection of this amount to my Company's Solicitors with instructions to take such steps as may be necessary for the recovery of same. Yours faithfully, Transcribed from document ref: LCO 26/654 at the National Archive by Peter Rimell - Apr 2013 |
